ABOUT OUR PROGRAM:

“Sustainability Strategies of Local Businesses”

Our panel discussion for January focuses on a timely topic that is affecting the way that business leaders approach their design and delivery of goods and services through their global supply chains.  The World Commission on Environment and Development has stated that the goal of sustainability is to meet the standards of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Corporate challenges involve finding ways to achieve economic success while benefiting society and the environment, i.e., using sustainable methods of manufacturing and ways to provide service.  Organizations must deliver in such a manner that protects and improves social well-being, environmental health, and, economic performance.

Corporate Social Responsibility defines the goal of integrating social concerns into corporate objectives.  This can be done by 1) setting the goal of shared value, 2) identifying linkages between the organization and society, and, 3) choosing which social issues to address (those with the greatest strategic value and social impact).

Our invited panelists represent different size businesses within the Berks County area that are always working toward positive change to achieve growth in their respective markets and focus on their customers as a top priority.  The panel format will be made up of individual presentations and questions from the attendees.

We invite questions from all of our attendees for our panelists.  If you can pre-submit questions, please send them to Dave Jankowski at jankowsk@ptd.net by December 31st.

Supply Chain Survey

The APICS Schuylkill Valley Chapter is joining with the Greater Reading Berks Economic Partnership in asking its members to participate in an important Supply Chain Survey.

As part of the Ride to Prosperity's objective to improve the Greater Reading economy over the next three to five years, the Berks Economic Partnership Energy Committee, in conjunction with the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce and Industry, seeks to determine how YOUR business can benefit from our area's growing energy sector.

This survey is designed to assess interest in business opportunities in various energy industries and/or subcontracting to suppliers of the industry.

Our long-term goal is to bolster effective supply chains for your company, increase strategic and tactical relationships, and provide more business development opportunities for YOU.
